    Yes - all of our tiny homes have been custom designed and built to client's individual specifications. There is a design process and associated fees with this option. Read more on our custom design & build page... ​ A more cost effective option is to select from the miHAUS current range of standard models that can be ordered (on a build contract). These designs can have minor modifications i.e. window/door changes or be mirror imaged.

    Yes, pricing can be provided if you supply a full set of plans including floorplan, elevations and full specifications
  • can miHAUS include my choice of fixtures and fittings i.e. bath, vanity, pendant light?"
    Yes, miHAUS encourage client's to personalise their build to their own taste and needs
  • do miHAUS have standard models available to purchase now?
    miHAUS usually do have models available for purchase and these can be viewed by appointment in person or by video call
  • what is miHAUS build time?
    Typically 2-4 months after plans have been approved by the customer.

    miHAUS tiny homes are supplied on their own registered and warranted trailer and towed on the road by our preferred transport company.   • do I need Council consent to reside in a tiny home?
    miHAUS Tiny homes are road registered vehicles with a Registration Plate and WOF, very similar to caravans. ​ Because miHAUS tiny homes are not built on foundations they do not comply with the Building Code in it's entirety, however miHAUS build with materials and practices very closely aligned with the Code. ​ A number of MBIE's determinations dictate that a tiny home on wheels is determined a vehicle based on it remaining movable and not lived in permanently - to view this document Click here. To obtain more information from the MBIE website read it here: about when a building is a vehicle or structure. ​ Local Authorities have criteria to consider i.e. District Plan - this document sets the framework for managing land use and development; the RMA - the legislation that details how we should manage the environment etc; the Building Act - the nationwide compliance document that all buildings on foundations must meet.   • do miHAUS provide a warranty?
    Yes, all products supplied and installed are covered by manufacturer's warranties including miHAUS building work. Electrical, plumbing and gas installations are undertaken by registered technicians to NZ Standards and certificates are issued on completion of the miHAUS Tiny House build. miHAUS provide clients with a detailed Handbook at completion with guidelines and recommendations for optimum tiny house living.
  • would miHAUS partially build a tiny home for me to complete?
    miHAUS specialise in the highest quality from concept to completion, which involves a lot of time, expertise and experience. We aim to uphold our miHAUS brand and reputation therefore it is not our preference to supply partial builds because the warranty and brand could be compromised. You may wish to consider completing some non structural, finishing detail i.e. painting or supply/install floor coverings
  • what max size/weight can a Tiny House be to meet NZTA WOF regulations?
    Length: 12.000 metres (incl drawbar) Height: 4.300 metres Width: 2.500 -3.100 metres without a Pilot vehicle WOF Weight: 3.500 tonnes
  • can I obtain finance for a miHAUS build?
    We can introduce you to an independent company specialising in financing miHAUS Tiny Houses. Typically a deposit will be required and weekly payments over 2-5 years, subject to normal lending criteria.
  • can I obtain insurance on a miHAUS build?
    We can advise you of a number of Insurance Companies that have insured our client's tiny homes and will be only too happy to assist.
  • can miHAUS build a fully off-grid module?
    Yes, we build with PV solar, compost toilet, grey water management system, rain water collection etc. This off-grid option will add from $19,000 to your build cost.
